Job Description

Also called: JD, Role Description

A written role definition covering responsibilities, requirements, level, and compensation.

Definition

A job description (JD) is the canonical written definition of a role, used for sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding. A good JD names specific responsibilities (not vague pillars), honest level expectations (years of experience, scope), and a real compensation band. For Product Ops roles, the JD is often the first place a candidate understands whether a company views PO as a real function or a junior coordinator role.
